Tis the Season

Happy Lunar New Year! I hope you are all well and surviving the winter. (It's freezing in Montreal right now!!!) I know it's a bit late for holiday greetings, but since it's the Lunar New Year celebrations this week I figure I can still get away with belated holiday updates.

Okay, so where do I begin?

American Thanksgiving

A week before Thanksgiving, Wendy and Henry called to tell us they were coming to Montreal. We were excited to spend this week with them, especially since it is a rare occasion for us to spend time with family. They had not seen Jordan since the summer and so it was with some great anticipation that they visited. Drew decided to roast the turkey and thanks to Mark Bittman (aka "The Minimalist"), he discovered a quick solution to the roast. He butterflied the turkey and roasted it in less than an hour. It didn't look exquisite, but it was wonderfully moist and juicy.

Here's Drew carving his first roasted turkey. Bravo Drew!!! It was delicious.

We also had fun eating and hanging out in Montreal. We had lunch at Santropol where we discovered the smoothest coffee in the world... if you don't believe me you have to check it out. It's Santropol's Montrealaise roast (http://www.santropol.com/pages/bblends.html)

We were sad to see Wendy and Henry go, but were so grateful for the opportunity to see them. We love you guys!!!

Christmas 2008

We spent Christmas in Montreal this year, it was exciting since Jordan is now old enough to join in the festivities. Before Wendy and Henry returned to Dallas, they helped us put up our Christmas tree. Jordan enjoyed hanging ornaments and putting the lights on the tree.

Jordan and I went shopping with her Eemo Sheila at Fairview Centre where we met Santa Claus and took some pictures in front of their Christmas display.

On Christmas Day Jordan discovered wrapping paper and the wonders of opening gifts.

Thank you Gabriel for this pretty dress!

We are so grateful for all the invitations to dinner during this time. We definitely had a wonderful time celebrating this season with so many of our friends in Montreal. One of the memorable meals shared during this season was with Andy and Sheila, since it was their first Christmas together as husband and wife.

New Years 2009

After Christmas, we drove to Toronto for the annual Honger and Honger Wannabes Christmas/New Year celebrations. This year we stayed up playing Taboo and Boggle (since Monopoly has been permanently banned from the list of family-games.) Our annual gift exchange was great fun, and I loved being able to spend time with my cousins, aunties and uncles. I finally had the opportunity to meet Jane and John's baby Madi, as well as Dave and Miriam's new one Stephen.

One aspect of living in Montreal that has been a source of joy for me is that I have reconnected with my East-coast Honger clan. It's nice that even though I don't have access to my mom's kitchen here, I can get my fill of Korean food and kimchi in Toronto. Also, I absolutely love that Jordan will grow up with Katie and Caleb in her midst. It's so fun to have cousins to play with and learn to share with (thanks Caleb!!!)

Well, that's all for the updates. Mom, sorry for the delay... thanks for the daily reminders to post new picture :) keke. I miss you all. Also Happy Belated Birthday Noah!!!! We miss you soooo much.
